The best work I've done was for other people. It has something to do with having a purpose for your painting. A purpose greater than yourself.

Speaking of greater purposes... Adarna is a superheroine - part of Filipino super hero team created by Ner Pedrina. I gave him this digital painting to celebrate the anniversary of his comic book title.

The main character and her wings were created using Adobe 7's paintbrush. Using high opacity (in fact I think it was 100%)
Background's a combination of filters and paintbrushing.

I initially had it mind to paint a very solid-looking character... much like the doctor The Doctor's Familiar

- but I believe I failed there. However the piece took a different turn and became softer. Perhaps a bit too flat/soft?

What do you think? How can I make the character more solid without losing the fact that she's emitting fire? Should I even make her look more solid?

Dont know. I think the angle of view is a bit .... well .....boring?
I cant feel the heat of the fire in this image..

I love the wings although might I suggest changing the purple suit? But that's just peresonal preference.

Very beautiful rendition, but the background strikes me as slightly blurry. The fire rising from her head also looks a bit squiggly, IMHO.

I adore the pose and the way you rendered her wings! Great job! Lovely touch on the surrounding golden feathers!

good work, I'm not comfortable with the purple suit too much, the background is good, the fire from her head.... well her head is sort of lost in it..a bit too soft and blurry there...pose is very lovely

The purple suit came with the character. I mean my friend's character had a purple suit! Of course this is definitely no excuse for a poor color harmony for this particular piece! Thank you everyone for your heart-burning comments

heheh! seriously i like the wings very much! it feels so soft and really looks fiery...is she about to take off? coz i like how you dealt with the smoke, the way they swirl as she "flaps"
